The advertising major of QUST was established in 1997. It is the first advertising major in Shandong Province. In recent years, the advertising major has adhered to the training concept of "professional + direction", adhered to integrity and innovation, integrated development paths, and actively explored new development paths. There are now three training directions for advertising copywriting, film and television advertising, and advertising design. This type of talent has formed a distinctive school-running feature.

The professional faculty is strong, with 4 professors, 10 associate professors, and 1 lecturer, including 7 doctoral degree holders, 8 master tutors, 1 doctoral tutor, and 1 foreign professor. There are 2 members of China Film and Television Association and 2 members of China Advertising Association. In the past five years, this major has won 1 National Social Science Fund Art Project, more than 10 provincial and ministerial scientific research, teaching and research projects, and 1 provincial teaching achievement award.

The experimental conditions of this major are superior, it has Kim Jong-hyun International Video Studio, SCA International Video Center, "May Wind" micro-film studio, live broadcast studio, studio, recording studio, laser phototypesetting, film and television advertisement production, film and television editing 17 professional laboratories and studios, including synthesis, animation studio, and studio, provide a strong guarantee for the training of advertising professionals.

For many years, the advertising major has excellent educational quality. The students of this major have won important awards in the College Student Advertising Art Competition, the College Award of the College Student Advertising Art Festival, and the College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Every year, students pass recommendation or examinations to be promoted to Peking University and Beijing Normal University. Universities, Communication University of China, Nanjing Normal University, Shandong University and other prestigious universities continue to study for master's and doctoral degrees, and the employment rate of graduates is over 97%.
